OVERVIEW:
For the average American, a vacation is a period of travel and relaxation when you take twice the clothes and half the money you need. And for nude vacationers? Well, the latter may still hold true, but the places where they spend that money is quite different! NATURALLY looks at the people who believe that removing clothes in public is a good idea, and at places specifically created for that purpose with good humor, but also in earnest.
NATURALLY introduces you to naturists / nudists whose personal freedom is a prime agenda, and to places where textile-free living is a serious commitment. NATURALLY invokes the philosophies of naturism and nudism, but also activities and beliefs in the mainstream that invoke nudity: spiritual awareness, New Age practices, pagan and religious rites, alternative and fringe lifestyle beliefs, artistic expressions and many individual interests who explore the nude with a wholesome mindset. Our higher purpose is to help restore our sense of self. NATURALLY’s parent company, Internaturally, LLC, came out of the naturist movement, and has recently formed a membership-based organization with distribution access to the public. Internaturally also publishes and distributes other educational materials about nude recreation; its Internaturally catalog is known worldwide, and online at www.Internaturally.com. NATURALLY seeks mainly informational articles that showcase nude practices, whether at nude resorts, nude parks, nude beaches, in public, or in private clubs. We support the growth of public nude beaches, volunteer groups, and even private nude homes, and any clothes-optional venue to increase public awareness and participation. We believe that nudity or nude activities are not philosophies in themselves, but the manifestation of certain philosophies and ideologies, some of which are deeply rooted in history, culture, and ritual like nude public bathing and skinny-dipping, meditation and celebration through dance. For most nudist / naturist organizations, social nudity and its benefits are a lofty philosophy and lifestyle commitment. Other alternative lifestyle factions include nudity ritually, peripherally, or spontaneously, to express its wholesomeness through cleansing, celebrating life and personal freedom. Although the term “nude recreation” may, for some, conjure up visions of adult-only behavior: sexual frivolities inappropriate for children, which can also be true. However, these topics are outside the scope of NATURALLY magazine. Here the emphasis is on people of all ages and backgrounds, recreating in their natural state, celebrating their humanity at extraordinary places, their reasons for doing so, and the benefits they derive from this practice. NATURALLY exists to explore and promote these notions of higher fortitude, personal freedom, and recreational possibilities, worldwide. This is our purpose and your invitation to submit your story, articles, and pictures.
PHOTOGRAPHY: NATURALLY’s photo policy is liberal. We encourage photography at all clothes-free events by courteous and considerate photographers. Although NATURALLY publishes primarily the work of nudist and naturist (amateur and professional) photographers, we believe strongly that all who are interested in taking pictures at nude events should be free to do so without extraneous restrictions for purposes of protecting anonymity. Unreasonable photo restrictions discourage openness and sabotage the depiction of genuine, and sincere nude recreation. Of course, we respect the rights of clubs to set the rules as hosts. NATURALLY will honor publishing restrictions placed on some photos by a host. Photographs taken on public lands or in establishments open to the public, do not require photo releases unless intended for commercial use (e.g., in an advertisement, to sell something). However, common courtesy and consideration prevail. Photographs acquired surreptitiously or by insensitive methods are not accepted for publication. Photographs taken in closed private areas, not generally thought of as public, should have releases from all recognizable persons when the photo is not of a news-related situation. For a legitimate newsworthy photograph, NATURALLY magazine does not require photo releases, unless the picture is taken on private property. Again, common courtesy and consideration prevails, and photographs acquired by insensitive methods are not accepted for publication. Photo releases are the responsibility of the photographer. Photographs should be submitted digitally in high resolution; always use the maximum resolution settings on your camera. You may also submit photographs as continuous-tone prints, negatives, or slides. It is preferred, but not required, that selected original photos for publication are retained as file copies for possible future use. Unpublished orginal photos are returned as a matter of procedure, unless there is a likelihood for future publication in NATURALLY magazine or other books and magazines published by Internaturally.
ILLUSTRATIONS and POETRY: Thematic renderings, paintings, poems, and other art submissions are welcomed. We document the theme of all submissions and attempt to combine the art with relevant articles, poems, and stories, which are available to the magazine. Please submit only copies or photos of the art so that they can be filed. Do not send originals.
CARTOONS: Cartoon illustrations can generally stand on their own, although we may combine them with relevant editorials or other text. The topics are wide open, but the cartoonist should avoid any sexual connotation or innuendo. Payment ranges from $25 per small spot usage, to $60 for a full page. Compensation for prominent art, full-color cartoons, and more elaborately illustrated works are negotiable.
ORGANIZATIONS: We support most naturist and nudist groups and organizations in their endeavor to educate the public. Toward this endeavor, we have chosen a less political and more lighthearted approach. News releases, articles and/or photos submitted by nudist/naturist organizations, to inform, or to promote an event or political agenda, are accepted and appreciated. Fund-raising appeals are accepted for publication from naturist and nudist organizations. Brevity is requested. We accept event schedules for publication if open to everyone and dated sufficiently ahead (preferably 5-6 months) to be useful to our members and readers for at least up to one month after publication.
PAID PARTICIPATION (at time of publication): All contributors receive copies of NATURALLY magazine in which their material appears. NATURALLY pays $60 per published page (text and/or visuals). Fractional pages or fillers are pro-rated. Frequent contributors and regular columnists, who develop a following through NATURALLY, are paid from the Frequent Contributors Budget. Payments increase or decrease on the basis of frequency of participation, and the budget is adjusted quarterly based on circulation numbers. We purchase news items that are creatively combined and submitted as one article. Blurbs or short news write-ups are graciously accepted as contributions to the cause (see unpaid participation).
UNPAID PARTICIPATION & CONTRIBUTIONS: Published materials, submitted with a commercial agenda, such as product releases, news releases, resort news, etc. are not paid. Published articles intended to promote a commercial entity, resort or nudist park, organization, group, etc. are not paid. It is generally understood that NATURALLY publishes this material as free promotional/publicity support. Short news (current events) items and clippings are also appreciated as contributions to the cause of promoting the benefits of clothes-optional freedom. Opinion pieces are accepted as contributions only when adequately researched.
EXCLUSIVITY: We accept articles and photos that have been previously published elsewhere, when submitted by the original authors or photographers. However, the value of the material is diminished as a non-exclusive submission. We deduct 50% from payments of previously published submissions if accepted for publication.
ASSIGNMENTS: When all-expense-paid assignments are awarded, NATURALLY magazine will provide paid travel and accommodation expenses. Food and other routine daily living expenses are not paid. Additional payments are made for the published article(s) and/or photo(s), based upon the above-stated “Paid Participation” criteria. Articles and photos resulting from assignments are for NATURALLY magazine's exclusive use.
